We begin this unforgettable journey from Manali, a popular resort town nestled in the Beas River Valley. Once part of an ancient trade route to Ladakh, Manali has evolved into one of the best holiday destinations in India, perfect for families, couples, and groups of friends starting their Himalayan adventure.

DAY-WISE ITINERARY

Day 1: Manali Arrival & Acclimatization

  • Arrival & Check-in: Upon arrival in Manali, you will be picked up and transferred to your hotel for check-in.
  • Acclimatization: Since Spiti Valley sits at an altitude of approximately 12,500 feet, it is strictly advised to relax and allow your body to acclimatize to prevent Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS).
  • Activity: Take a full day of rest and prepare for the upcoming high-altitude journey.
  • Overnight Stay: Manali.

Day 2: Manali to Kaza (203 km, 9 hours)

  • High Passes: Start early from Manali, crossing two major passes: Rohtang Pass and Kunzum Pass. You will also cross seasonal streams known as Bada Darra and Chota Darra.
  • Kaza Arrival: Reach Kaza by late evening after the long drive.
  • Evening Activity: The evening is at leisure for individual activities. Go for a stroll in the Kaza local market, try local food at the cafes, and explore shops for local handicrafts.
  • Highlight: Kaza local market exploration.
  • Overnight Stay: Kaza.

Day 3: Kaza Local Exploration (Langza – Komic – Hikkim)

  • Langza (Fossil Village): After starting your day, the first stop is Langza, famous for its large Buddha Statue and the discovery of fossils of marine creatures and plants.
  • Komic: Visit Komic, located 18 km from Kaza. Spend time in this village, recognized as the highest inhabited village in the world, visiting the monastery and interacting with locals.
  • Hikkim: Travel 5 km from Komic to Hikkim, home to the highest post office in the world. Be sure to send postcards to family and friends.
  • Return: Head back to Kaza in the evening.
  • Highlight: Buddha statue in Langza, Komic (highest inhabited village), Hikkim (highest post office).
  • Overnight Stay: Kaza.

Day 4: Kaza Deep Dive (Pin Valley – Tabo – Mud – Gue – Dhankar)

  • Pin Valley: Visit Kungri Monastery in Pin Valley before heading toward Mud Village.
  • Gue Village: After lunch, proceed to Gue Village, which uniquely houses a well-preserved 500-year-old mummy.
  • Dhankar: End the major sightseeing day at Dhankar and visit the historic Dhankar Monastery.
  • Return: Head back to Kaza in the evening.
  • Highlight: Kungri Monastery, Gue Monastery, Dhankar Monastery.
  • Overnight Stay: Kaza.

Day 5: Kaza to Nako Excursion (via Tabo and Sumdo)

  • Tabo: Travel towards Nako. The first stop is Tabo, where you will visit the 1021-year-old Tabo Monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, along with the Golden Temple and Tabo Caves.
  • Sumdo: Pass through Sumdo, the village marking the end of the Kinnaur Valley.
  • Nako Exploration: Continue to Nako, a small village near the India-Tibet border, famous for its Nako Lake and a 1000-year-old monastery. Explore the monastery, look for the footprints of Lord Padmasambhava, and enjoy photography around the small man-made lake.
  • Return: Head back to Kaza in the evening.
  • Highlight: Tabo Monastery, Tabo Caves, Nako Lake, and Nako Monastery.
  • Overnight Stay: Kaza.

Day 6: Kaza to Chandrataal Lake (via Kibber – Kee Monastery – Chicham)

  • Kee Monastery: En route to Chandrataal, stop at the magnificent Kee Monastery, the largest monastery in the entire Spiti Valley.
  • Kibber & Chicham: Visit Kibber, one of the highest motorable villages in the world, and cross the Chicham Khas Bridge, which is the highest bridge in Asia (over 13,500 feet).
  • Chandrataal Lake: Proceed toward Chandra Tal (Moon Lake) via Kunzum Pass and Losar. This incredibly scenic lake is situated at an altitude of 4300 meters, surrounded by mountains. Enjoy the views, photography, and leisure time.
  • Sunset: Return to the campsite before sunset and wait for an amazing sunset at CB12 (Chandra Bhagha 12), weather permitting.
  • Highlight: Chandrataal Lake, Kee Monastery, Chicham Bridge, Kibber Village, sunset view at CB12.
  • Overnight Stay: Camps at Chandra Taal.


Day 7: Chandrataal to Manali Drop-off

  • Departure: Start the final day of the tour early in the morning.
  • Drop-off: You will be dropped off in Manali by the afternoon.
